The Oil Mill and Mill Museum

Mill history dating from 1846 through today is presented in two mills close to the Brake Castle by the former miller family. The oil mill dating to 1806 is the only mill of its kind with its water wheel still fully intact.. The former saw-mill dated 1831 contains the exhibition of the castle mills. Where you can learn about their history and the way they were operated. An explanation of the method for obtaining oil for energy (vegetable oil, mineral oil, gas and electricity)an explanation of the processing of flax, displays containing the birth-certificates of the mill family Vietmeires and an exhibit showing methods the family used to make due during the two world wars are open to the public.
